Terms of Use

Last updated 29 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the company that operates Rant. By creating an account or using Rant, you agree to them. We have tried to write them in plain English rather than in the usual fog.

What Rant does

Rant is a video editing service. You upload a clip of yourself talking; we transcribe it, remove filler words and silent gaps, burn in captions, reframe it vertically, and return the result. It is automated. No human reviews or approves the output.

Your account

You sign in with an email address. Keep access to that inbox secure. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You must be at least 13 years old. One person, one account.

Your content stays yours

You keep every right you had in the videos you upload and in the clips Rant produces from them. We claim no ownership. We do not license your content to anyone, do not use it to train models, and do not display it publicly.

You grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the service: to store, process, transcribe and re-encode your video so we can give the finished clip back to you. That permission ends when the file is deleted.

What you must not upload

We may suspend or delete an account that does these things, without a refund.

Plans and billing

Refunds

Charges are not refunded, and you can cancel at any time. The seven-day free trial is there so you can decide whether Rant works for you before any money moves. Make up to ten rants during it, and if it is not for you, cancel before it ends and you are never charged.

Once a period has been paid for, we do not refund it or any unused part of it. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for, so there is nothing to reclaim by cancelling early.

That is the policy, not a wall. If something went genuinely wrong, whether you were charged twice, the service was broken when you needed it, or you cancelled and it did not take, then email support@tryrant.app and we will make it right. We would much rather sort it out than have you dispute it with your bank.

Purchases made through the App Store are paid to Apple, so refunds for them are Apple's decision under Apple's policies. You can ask Apple for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Fair use

A paid plan is for one person making their own clips. It is not an API, a bulk processing pipeline, or a service to resell. If usage looks automated or is high enough to threaten the service for everyone else, we may get in touch and, if it continues, rate-limit or suspend the account.

What we do not promise

Rant is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, that transcription will be accurate, or that the automatic cuts will always be the ones you would have made. Always watch the finished clip before you post it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses: lost views, lost followers, lost revenue, lost opportunities. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside Rant whenever you want. It is immediate and permanent, and it removes your videos along with it. A subscription billed by us on the web is cancelled as part of the deletion, so it is not charged again. An App Store subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account: cancel it in your App Store subscription settings, or Apple will keep charging it.

We may close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Rant after that means you accept the new version.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, and any dispute will be heard in the courts there.
